Taking a break from the Korea posts to go over my latest craft project to put the finishing touches on my down stairs bathroom. In my original post Tweet Tweet Birdy Birdy I showed how I decorated my down stairs bath room with birds.
I decided that the wall decals were not enough. I also was thinking about what I will do when we move. I will either have to get a new wall decal (because this one is not reusable) or I would have to find a new way to decorate this room. I chose to find a new way to decorate while following the same theme.
My original idea was to get a white shadow box with glass on both sides. I would rough up the sides a bit to make it look more worn and rustic. I would then place a birds nest inside with a couple blue eggs inside. I wanted to hang this over the toilet. Well, I went to a couple local craft stores as well as Target and Wal-Mart and I was unable to find a reasonably priced shadow box let alone one with glass on both sides. So I had to change my plans again and this is what I came up with....
I got all my supplies from Ben Franklin, the local craft store. To make these two birds nests cost less than just the shadow box alone.
I got two clay pots and put dry floral foam inside so I wold have a surface to glue the dried grass down to. I then gathered separate strands of the dried grass and glued them around the rim of the clay pot.
Once I had made a circle of grass around the rim, I started to add more grass to fill out the nest. I wold weave grass into the glued down grass or I would cut small strands about six inches long and I would put hot glue on each end and glue them down.
Once the nest looked full I added the birds. I found them by all the dried grass. I originally did not want to add birds to the nests but I just fell in love with them at the store. On the bottom of the bird was a clip that I just pulled out and I shaped the wire into a point to go through the foam.
Next I added the little eggs I made out of foam balls. I cut each ball in half and shaped them in to an egg shape and I panted them blue. I put a tooth pick in to the foam for the egg to sit on.
The final product....
I also found two cute little bird canvas pieces at the Anex on base. My bathroom is finally done! This is the first room I can actually say is complete!

Tweet tweet birdy birdy!
I have finally finished decorating my downstairs bathroom! When I posted about our house here in Hawaii I had yet to decide on how I wanted to decorate my downstairs half bath.
So a few weeks ago I decided it was time to add a little life to this dull bathroom.
I found my towels at Target with my good friend Danita and they become my starting point.
After I had gotten my towels, rug, and soap dispenser I realized my walls were a little too bare. So I started looking around for a large wall decal to cover the far wall. I fell in love with a tree branch/ bird wall decal from Etsy.com! I love all the unique and interesting things you can find on there. I got the decal in about two weeks of me ordering it and it was simple to put on.
First, I placed the branches on the wall where I wanted them.
Next I added birds to perch on the branches and some fly around!
And finally I added the leaves! My last addition to the bathroom will be my new Scentsy warmer I got last night! I can't wait till it gets here, it will be the finishing touch to our "new" bathroom.

All settled in...
We have finally gotten all settled in! Our shipment of household goods arrived Wednesday last week and we have been cleaning and setting things up all week. The hard labor paid off! We are quite proud of our new home.
This is our kitchen and dining area. Directly behind where I am standing is the laundry room
Here is our living room, the half bath that I still have yet to decorate, and a picture up the stairs that lead to the second floor.
This is the upstairs hall that leads to the guest bedroom, office, guest bathroom, and the mater bedroom and bathroom.
The guest bathroom.
This is the office which is home to Picasso and Pascal the chameleons.
This is the guest bedroom which will soon become a nursery. Hercules just loves to pose for the camera!
Last but not least is our master bedroom and bath. Our furniture almost didn't fit!
We move a lot being a military family so we will live in a lot of houses. But I know with Alex by my side, I will always be home!

We finally made it!
It took a lot of work and a long time to get here but we made it. We now have our new house in Kailua, HI with all of our animals and we couldn't be happier! But it wasn't easy getting here. My dad and Michelle helped me make it happen. They were kind enough to drive all the animals to San Francisco where we dropped them off at the hotel so we could then go get our car shipped over. That night I met my second cousin on my dad's side for the first time and he and his girlfriend took us out to dinner to a great Chinese restaurant where I had pigeon....and it was great!
But the fun really starts the following morning when we had to get four suitcases and four animals plus their kennels all to the airport. Hercules and Taquito were such good boys in line at the airport to check in. We got all checked in and my dad, Michelle, and I said our goodbyes at security and all that was left to do was wait, and oh did I wait.

The flight got delayed three times (a five hour delay) until they finally canceled it. So it was now time to reschedule. I got a flight that left about one and a half hours later that I could get on so I went to the counter to get my ticked. When I got to the counter they told me I couldn't make the flight in time so I had to reschedule again for the next morning. I was told to go down to baggage claim to get my babies and all my luggage but when I got down there they informed me that all of my luggage (which held all the animals food) was on its way to Honolulu, HI without me. So it was my dad and Michelle to the rescue! They came back to the hotel I got a room at to stay the night and they helped me get my babies their food and to get me back to the airport the next morning. The next day it all went smooth! After we landed I rushed to see my boo and to get my animals so we could all relax. After a week in the lodge and the pets at a sitters we had our new home!
We ran into this little guy in our hotel room, they are all over around here. He is just so cute!
During the past few weeks of packing, moving, flying, and running around I have to say that I am so thankful for all that I have. I have a wonderful husband who takes great care of me and our pets as well as a nice big roof over our heads and I live in a beautiful place!
(I will post pictures of the inside once we get the rest of our household goods)
Our adventure here in Hawaii has just started but I'm already amazed. And to think....it will only get better from here!
